Healing aromatic plants such as lavender and helichrysum grow abundantly in Southern Portugal. One of our main activities is distilling these native wild plants to produce essential oil and hydrosol. Nayana is an aromatherapist and herbalist and puts her knowledge to good use formulating 100% natural products for you to enjoy. But more than that, distilling aromatic plants in the wild hills of Portugal, we are immersed in the multi-layered fragrance of nature, which re-awakens your instinctual being and reconnects you to your primal senses! Distillation – The Art & Science

Everyone who uses essential oil should learn where they come from. It gives you a whole new appreciation of how precious they are. Plus going through the whole process from harvest to bottling is an immersion into the energetic field of aroma which is a powerfully transformative experience. In this workshop you will learn:

How and when to harvest the plants ethically

Making Medicine

We are surrounded by medicine if you know where to look, and how to use it. Here in our wild corner of Portugal it is abundant in the spring time. Humans have an ancient connection to plants, we have grown up with them, when we start to tune in to them again we reconnect with our inner medicine woman/man, and liberate our mind and soul

Aromatics in regenerative farming

Distillation of essential oil and hydrosol from local Portuguese plants also helps the land regenerate and gives us a sustainable source of income to support the horses and land. Aromatic plants have an important place in the eco system of the cork oak woodlands, helping to keep the trees healthy. We harvest consciously, from our hearts and with consideration for other creatures that share our living space. We pick what the plants have to offer, never taking more than a fair share. Every time you buy our products or come to stay you contribute to land regeneration too.

What is Hydrosol?

We mention hydrosol a lot throughout the site, but perhaps you don’t know about this very special healing liquid, so a quick word. Hydrosol, also known as hydrolat or floral water. It is the water part of the distillation of essential oils and is a powerful healing product in its own right, gentler and safer than essential oil, and more sustainable. It contains heavier, water-soluble molecules of the plant that did not evaporate, as well as tiny traces of essential oil, it also carries the energetic imprint of the whole plant. It is highly versatile and safe to use in skin care, as emotional support, as room fragrance, for animal care and more.
